Sept. 21, 2006 -- Thanks to the Heppners
for drafting this letter to high school administrators
regarding North Stars Tier hockey, high school attendance,
grades and independent study options. Please use
this sample letter as part of your contact with your
player's high school advisers, teachers and principals about Tier
hockey and potential for missed school days.
In any case, please remember the need for
all North Stars players to use the study periods set aside
during extended hockey travel, especially on days with
only ONE hockey game. The North Stars expects
its players to come prepared to do homework, study or to read a book
during the set-aside times while traveling. This emphasis is to
ensure that grades remain a real PLUS for our players, never an
issue, in addition to our
players' outstanding hockey skills.
